Mog Coin (MOG) is a community-driven meme token that launched on Ethereum in 2023 and now has official versions on Base, Solana, and BNB Chain.
The project describes MOG as a "culture coin" built around internet memes and community participation. It has no staking yield, governance rights, or formal roadmap.
MOG is highly speculative and can lose most or all of its value. For US taxpayers, selling, swapping, or spending MOG is a taxable disposal reported on Form 8949.

What is Mog Coin ($MOG)?
Mog Coin (MOG) is a meme token that launched through a fair launch on Uniswap V2 in July 2023. The original MOG token is an ERC-20 token on Ethereum.
The project calls MOG a "culture coin" built around internet culture, memes, and the idea of "mogging," or outdoing someone.
MOG doesn't have its own blockchain. It runs on the networks where it's issued or bridged, and users pay network fees in that chain's native token, such as ETH or SOL, not in MOG.
The project says it has no formal team or roadmap and describes MOG as a community and entertainment token. However, a November 2025 registration statement filed with the SEC for the proposed Canary MOG ETF states that about 12% of MOG's initial supply went to the team and early supporters.
What blockchains support MOG?
MOG began as an Ethereum ERC-20 token. The project now supports official versions on:
Ethereum
Base
Solana
BNB Chain
An official bridge moves MOG between these networks. The project says the bridge is powered by the canonical Base bridge and LayerZero and describes bridged MOG as "100% backed 1:1 with mainnet." Bridging adds smart contract and cross-chain infrastructure risk on top of the token's own risk.
The original Ethereum contract address is 0xaaeE1A9723aaDB7afA2810263653A34bA2C21C7a. Always check the network and contract address against MOG's official website before trading or transferring. A token with the same name or ticker is not necessarily official MOG.
Why did Mog Coin surge in popularity?
Internet culture: MOG built its identity around memes, online slang, and a highly active social community.
Broader availability: The token expanded beyond its original Ethereum market to additional networks and major centralized exchanges.
Speculation: Like other meme tokens, MOG attracts traders chasing short-term price moves, which can amplify both rallies and declines.
Where can you buy Mog Coin?
MOG trades on both centralized and decentralized exchanges.
Centralized exchanges (CEXs): MOG is listed on several major crypto trading platforms. Availability depends on your location and the exchange.
Decentralized exchanges (DEXs): MOG can be traded through compatible DEXs on each supported network, such as Uniswap on Ethereum.
Network selection: Make sure the exchange, wallet, and blockchain network all support the version of MOG you hold before withdrawing or transferring tokens.
Tip: Check MOG's official website for its current exchange list and contract addresses before trading. Fake tokens can use the same name and ticker.
When did Mog Coin launch?
Mog Coin launched in July 2023 through what the project describes as a fair launch using a Uniswap V2 liquidity pool.
MOG has always traded at a tiny price per token because its supply is measured in hundreds of trillions of tokens. The initial supply was 420.69 trillion, and part of that supply has since been burned. Data providers count maximum, total, and circulating supply differently, so check a current market-data source for the latest figure.
A low price per token doesn't make MOG cheap or mean it has more room to rise. Market capitalization, circulating supply, liquidity, and demand give more useful context. MOG has had large price swings in both directions since launch, which is typical of meme tokens.
How is Mog Coin taxed?
For US taxpayers, MOG follows the same federal tax rules as other digital assets. The IRS treats digital assets as property (IRS Notice 2014-21).
Buying MOG with US dollars: Not taxable by itself. Your cost basis is the purchase price plus fees.
Buying MOG with ETH or another crypto: A taxable disposal of the crypto you spend. You calculate a gain or loss on that crypto.
Selling MOG: A capital gain or loss if you hold MOG as an investment.
Swapping MOG for another token: A taxable disposal of the MOG you give up, even if you never convert to dollars.
Spending MOG: A taxable disposal.
Receiving MOG as payment or a reward: Ordinary income at fair market value when you receive or gain control of the tokens. Where you report it depends on why you received it. Digital asset income not reported elsewhere goes on Schedule 1, line 8v, while wages are reported on Form W-2 and self-employment or business income goes on Schedule C.
Moving MOG between wallets you own: Not taxable by itself, though the ETH, SOL, or other token used to pay the network fee is a small disposal.
MOG sales and swaps go on Form 8949 and Schedule D. Income does not go on Form 8949.
Keep records of acquisition dates, cost basis, wallet addresses, transaction hashes, fees, proceeds, and transfers between your accounts. You must report taxable crypto transactions even if an exchange or wallet doesn't send you a Form 1099-DA.

Is bridging MOG taxable?
Moving MOG through the project's cross-chain bridge may be treated differently from a transaction that exchanges MOG for a materially different token. MOG says its bridged tokens are "100% backed 1:1 with mainnet," but the IRS has not issued guidance specific to MOG or cross-chain bridge transactions. Don't assume every bridge transaction is either taxable or tax-free without looking at how the bridge works.
The network fee you pay to bridge is a disposal of the token used to pay it. Keep records of the tokens sent and received, wallet addresses, networks, transaction hashes, and fees.
